About usClassic Concerts Trust supports and promotes concerts and recordings of the highest possible quality over as large a geographical area as is feasible. In order to preserve flexibility and maximize the effectiveness of limited resources, the organisation is kept deliberately small. Since 1986 we have produced concerts, usually in association with local authorities, in numerous towns in south-eastern England, including Aldershot, Blackheath, Bracknell, Camberley, Chatham, Epsom, Horsham, Maidstone, Redhill, Slough and Woking as well as central London venues. The emphasis has always been on orchestral concerts and education projects but past projects have included talks, recitals and chamber music. From 1996-2005 the trust managed the orchestral concert season at Watford Colosseum, one of the finest halls for music in the country. One of the finest concert halls for music in the UK, it had been without professional concerts for two seasons when we commenced operation there and, compared with the period before we took over the concert management, average concert attendance increased by nearly 300% with a solid core of subscription sales. The audience profile was developed to include around 10% under the age of nineteen and the trust also established a loyal body of Friends and Patrons. Through setting up Watford Musical Heritage we hope to ensure that the legacy of our work in Watford will be a long-term development in musical activity in the hall. |
